ILLINOIS IN THE NEWS!

Mike Bost, a Republican U.S. Representative from Illinois, along with two presidential-primary delegates, sued the Illinois State Board of Elections in 2022. Capitol News Illinois+2+2

Their claim: Illinois law allows mail-in ballots that are postmarked on or before Election Day but received up to 14 days after Election Day to be counted. They argued this law extends the “election” beyond Election Day in violation of federal law setting a specific election day for federal offices. Legal Information Institute+2American Civil Liberties Union+2

Bost argued that this extension harms candidates: e.g., they must staff campaign operations longer, monitor late ballots, bear additional costs — and that the extended counting window dilutes or changes the meaning of “election day” in federal elections. Capitol News Illinois+2Legal Information Institute+2

Why this case matters

  • If the Court rules that candidates like Bost have standing, then political candidates could more freely challenge state election laws governing federal elections — especially logistical rules like how and when ballots are counted. Verdict+1

  • Conversely, if the Court rules that candidates don’t have standing (or sets a high threshold for standing in this context), then many pre-election challenges by candidates may be blocked — possibly pushing challenges until after elections or narrowing who can sue. Legal Information Institute

  • The specific issue of counting ballots after Election Day is not being decided here (yet). But if the case proceeds on the merits, it could open broader questions about state laws that allow vote‐by‐mail or late‐arriving ballots. Ballotpedia News+1

       Status as of now

  • SCOTUS heard oral arguments on October 8, 2025. Capitol News Illinois+1

  • The Court accepted the case for review (granted certiorari) on May 27, 2025. Legal Information Institute+1

  • The decision has not been issued yet (as of the latest information) — the key question (standing) remains unresolved.

  • Some media reporting suggests that the Justices appeared receptive to the argument that candidates might have standing. SCOTUSblog+1

Summary in one sentence

Rep. Mike Bost is asking the Supreme Court to allow him, as a candidate, to challenge Illinois’ law that counts mail ballots postmarked by Election Day but received up to 14 days later — and the key question now is whether he has the legal standing to bring the case.

Let' hope that the courts assign standing to Bost and we can move forward with legitimate election day only voting in Illinois!

A DAY IN HISTORY TO REMEMBER, SEPTEMBER 10, 2025

It's been five days since the horrifying event of September 10, 2025, when Charlie Kirk, brilliant and eloquent 31 year old defender of free speech, was murdered in front of thousands of young people in Utah.  This act was demonic and lower than low. Many of us will vow to intensify our efforts to unify those who fight for freedom. Some will be soldiers and protect us from physical harm. Others will plead to a higher being to protect us with prayer. God willing, we will survive as the Nation we were born to be, Free, Free at last. At the very least, Charlie is.

With a sorrowful heart,

Sue Dixon, Chair

Dear God, we lack the words.  As the Father of all that is good and pure, wrap Your embrace around this family at this intense time of sadness and grief.  You see this family who is suffering unbearable pain right now because of the loss of their beloved.  We pray for You to comfort and carry these precious people in their pain, loss, and sadness. Blanket them with Your love and peace. Their hearts are broken and their life in strongest turmoil, so humbly we pray that You can provide them peace and strength within their hearts.  We offer this prayer as they only now begin to navigate life without Charlie.  Let them find serenity in You, knowing Charlie is at peace in Your arms. We pray for the blanket of comfort to overwhelm them knowing Charlie is with You, in a place of eternal peace. In Your most Holy name, we join and pray. ~ Amen.  @The Last Refuge

WHAT YOU CAN DO

We ask people who followed Charlie Kirk to stand up and support his mission. Go to your local Republican Party, sign up. As a precinct committeeman you can make a difference by helping to elect great candidates. That's what Charlie Kirk would want you to do.

Write to us at [email protected] for details.

KANE COUNTY NEWS FROM THE CHAIR

What’s All the Fuss About Gerrymandering?

Take a look at the current map we live under here in Illinois. It’s been drawn in a way that heavily disadvantages Republicans. Even though Illinois is about 45% Republican, we barely have any real representation in the legislature.

This isn’t just an Illinois issue—it’s a national one. Across the country, Republicans in gerrymandered states are underrepresented, while Democrats have become experts at drawing maps that protect their power. Remember when Democrat legislators from Texas actually fled their own state to Illinois just to avoid a fair vote? That says a lot.

But here’s the good news: we can change this. If we work together and get out the vote in the March 17 primary, we set the stage to redraw the map in 2030.

Make no mistake—if Democrats keep control, these maps will stay in place for another 10 years. That means another decade of underrepresentation, another decade of their rules.

What You Can Do

This fight takes all of us. Here’s how you can help:

  • Volunteer for a campaign – lend your time, skills, and energy to candidates who will fight for fair maps.

  • Serve as an Election Judge – protect the integrity of our elections by helping at the polls.

  • Become a Precinct Committeeman or Assistant – represent your neighbors, organize voters, and make sure Republican voices are heard.

Together, we can restore fairness, strengthen our voice, and secure representation that reflects the people of Illinois.

The time to act is now—will you step up?

Geneva and Batavia GOP Celebrate Freedom at Patriot Picnic

The Geneva and Batavia Republican organizations hosted a successful Patriot Picnic yesterday — and not even the threat of rain could dampen our spirits! With clear skies and high energy, citizens, friends, and candidates gathered to enjoy fellowship, share ideas, and make new connections.

This is the fabric of American life — the freedom to gather, speak openly, and work together toward a better future. These values are at the heart of what we fight for — as candidates and as elected officials. And we know: defending liberty and steering our nation in the right direction is never easy, but always worth it.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. Let’s keep the momentum going!

KANE COUNTY NEWS FROM THE CHAIR

JUNE 2025

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I’m thrilled to welcome you to this month’s edition of our Township GOP Newsletter. As Chair, I want to start by saying thank you. Your dedication, energy, and commitment to our shared values helped earn us a first-place ranking in voter turnout across all eight townships in Kane County during the Spring 2025 primaries. That’s not just a statistic—it’s the result of hard work, door-knocking, conversations, and care for our community. Be proud!

But we cannot stop here. Each election brings more pressure from those who would like to shift our county’s values in a very different direction. That’s why I’m asking you—once again—to rally with us. Starting August 6, we’ll need boots on the ground to help our candidates circulate petitions so they can get on the ballot. It’s simple but crucial work, and it’s a great way to meet voters and show our strength early.

We also want to grow our movement—especially with younger voters. We hear so often that politics seems distant or irrelevant, but our local governments are making decisions every day that directly affect your wallet, your street, and your children’s future. Voters need to know: where are your tax dollars going? What plans are on the table at City Hall or the County Board?

Our goals are simple and urgent:

  • Engage more voters to support the party and our candidates.

  • Help voters understand where candidates stand on issues that matter.

  • Offer real opportunities to get involved, whether you have 5 minutes or 5 hours a week.

We invite you to be part of this momentum. Reach out, join us at our next meeting, bring a friend, or volunteer to help circulate a petition. We’re building something lasting—right here at home—and it only works if we do it together.

With gratitude and resolve,

Sue Dixon
Chairwoman, Geneva GOP

KANE COUNTY NEWS FROM THE CHAIR

MAY 2025

Welcome to the Geneva Republicans!

We’re thrilled to welcome new members and engaged citizens to our growing Geneva Republican community! Whether you’ve been a long-time supporter or are just beginning to pay closer attention to your local government, there has never been a more important time to get involved.

Thanks to the tireless work of our precinct volunteers and supporters like you, we secured a critical victory in the recent election—winning an alderman seat on the Geneva City Council and defeated a county sales tax referendum. These hard-fought wins are a testament to what happens when neighbors stand up, show up, and speak out for the values we believe in.

But this is just the beginning. The 2026 primary is coming up fast—in March—and the midterms will be here before we know it. Now is the time to come together, sharpen our message, expand our reach, and prepare for a strong and unified campaign season. We need all hands on deck.

As citizens, it’s our responsibility to know our community, protect our freedoms, and honor the legacy of our Founding Fathers. They sacrificed, debated, and persevered to build a framework of liberty that we must never take for granted. We owe them everything. And that means standing firm, staying informed, and fighting every day for the Constitution and the principles it enshrines.

Join us at our monthly meetings, held the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at GOP Headquarters, 333 North Randall Road, St. Charles. Be on the lookout for an upcoming event designed specifically to welcome new members and interested citizens—we’d love to see you there!

Together, let’s continue the work of preserving our republic—right here in Geneva.

Sue Dixon,

Chairwoman, Geneva GOP

A Message to Our Community: Let’s Rebuild Together

In the wake of the recent consolidated election, we have experienced the loss of several key seats. While this is undoubtedly disheartening, it also serves as a powerful reminder: democracy only works when people show up—not just on Election Day, but throughout the process.

We recognize and respect that many voters today choose to identify as Independents. It’s a sign of how deeply people are questioning government institutions and political parties. We understand that impulse. In many ways, it reflects a desire for accountability, integrity, and responsiveness in leadership.

However, disengagement or protest by non-participation only amplifies the voices of those who do show up—and often, those voices do not reflect the values or needs of the broader community.

We’re extending an invitation—not just to join a party, but to help shape it. Your ideas, your scrutiny, and your desire for transparent leadership are not only welcome, but essential. Whether you vote red, blue, or remain unaffiliated, our future depends on your participation.

Let’s rebuild together. Start by getting to know your candidates. Ask questions. Share your concerns. Support those who are working hard to protect your freedoms, your family, and your future.

The mid-terms are coming, and with them, another chance to make a difference. Let’s not miss it.

Because our future as a free country is counting on it.

KANE COUNTY NEWS FROM THE CHAIR

March 2025

1. THE KANE COUNTY BOARD HAS VOTED TO PUT A .75% TAX ON THE APRIL 1 BALLOT.

The 0.75% tax is a sales tax which applies to retail purchases made within the county, like goods and services. This proposal is set to raise another $51 million for the county to spend. See flyer for details.

2. PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT AT DUKE & LEE'S ON THIRD ST & RTE 31 STALLED

The developer, Burton Foundation, infamously known for it's development of Emma's Landing where a double murder took place in December, 2024, had applied for funding in 2020 and 2024 for a new development in downtown Geneva. The location is at the gateway to the historical and shopping district of Geneva. Many homeowners who realized the project was in the works, did some deep research and attended city council meetings to present facts they had found that were disturbing. The project did not receive the funding from the IHDA for affordable housing and is still owned by the developer. City council proceedings are recorded and available on their website.

 3. OUR APRIL 1 MUNICIPAL ELECTION IS CRITICAL TO ENSURE A DESIRABLE FUTURE PATH FOR GENEVA'S CITIZEN'S

Your community's choices for citywide offices will determine the path for Geneva for 4 years. It is an important election. Our current mayor has been in office for 24 years and it is time that the balance on the city council be corrected. Geneva Republicans stand with Karsten Pawlik for Mayor, Larry Furnish Ward 3 Alderman, and Patrice Bertheau, Ward 5 Alderwoman in contested races These candidates have shown their passion, knowledge and commitment to transparency to help Geneva turn around its empty storefronts, crumbling roads and public areas, and make good decisions for development of empty lots. PLEASE VOTE FOR THEM!

I encourage you to stay informed and invite Republican friends to get to know us.

FEBRUARY 2025

Your voice has never mattered more than in our April 1st local election. While national politics grab headlines, it is our local leaders who determine the fate of our historic river town – from the condition of the streets you drive each day to the vitality of our downtown storefronts.

After 24 years under the same leadership, our beautiful community along the Fox River stands at a crossroads. The charm of our 1800s architecture and waterfront deserves leadership that will preserve our heritage while bringing fresh energy to long stalled development projects. And with a proposed 0.75% county sales tax on the ballot, your vote will directly impact your family's budget.

This election isn't just about choosing a Mayor and Alderpersons – it's about shaping the future of the community we call home. Local elections are where your vote carries the most weight and where decisions most directly affect your daily life.

Many feel that our current administration has failed in managing public infrastructure, prioritizing short-term gains over long-term planning and maintenance. A poorly communicated referendum, meant to make residents pay for mismanagement, was withdrawn due to errors, leaving no solutions. The city has failed in downtown preservation, with regulations causing business struggles, and in protecting the Fox River, where dam removal would be costly and environmentally harmful, ignoring free, viable alternatives. Leadership should involve making tough decisions for future generations, not leaving taxpayers to pay for negligence.

It is not only your right but your duty to show up on April 1st and help write the next chapter of our town's story.

Your opportunity is here. The Geneva Republicans need your help to ensure success in the upcoming elections. Together, we can elect officials committed to excellent leadership and real progress. But we need your time and financial support to make it happen—because nothing meaningful ever gets accomplished without one or the other.

Here’s how you can help the candidates:

  1. Donate: Help cover operational costs and provide vital support for our candidates.
  2. Volunteer: Make calls or distribute literature to friendly doors.
  3. Send Postcards: Mail Friend-to-Friend postcards encouraging others to vote for our candidates.
  4. Host a Meet & Greet: Invite neighbors and friends to your home to meet a candidate or two.
  5. Start an Email Campaign: Reach out to friends and neighbors, and inspire them to do the same.

The April 1 election holds the potential for transformative change—but only if we come together to make it happen. Join us, and let’s move our community forward.

Onward!
